Hello, for all students (at least high-school and the undergraduates) and others with an interest or enrolled in economics, homeschoolers esp., I have started a blog which will comprise study literature in a more entertaining form than standard textbooks, see
CrisisMaven’s Economics Study Guide. It also contains a Reference List which aspires to eventually become the "one stop shop" for all economic data series, history, bibliographies etc.

and FYI socializing with other homeschooled students doesn't help. Your kids will not make it in a world where a first impression is ten seconds. They need to know how to dress, how to act, and how to seem NORMAL.

I have been homeschooled my entire life and I have met TONS of homeschooled kids that are complete misfits and do not know how to have a conversation. The only reason I ever survived is because I am very out going and as a child I made sure that my parents gave me oppertunities to socialize at church, youth group, etc.

Perhaps you should concentrate more on learning to write than on what you perceive to be social awkwardness in others? Just saying.... your post is very poorly written and choppy. Is English your first language?

I'm in the same boat. I am thinking of finding a retired teacher in my area to oversee my son during the day so I can go to work. I will be arranging the assignments and doing special projects and outings with him. My reasons are because his father lives so far away that my son only sees him twice a year, because of school scheduling.
The other thing I am looking into is other homeschooling moms with children close in age to my son. Perhaps they would be willing to bring him into their homeschool for a fee.
Hope these ideas help or spark other ideas. Good luck.

I think costumes and costume parties are fine, just not on Halloween. I wrote an article http://www.advice.com/article/2009/10/22/Advice+on+A+Christian+Alternative+To+Halloween+For+Christian+Parents in which I expressed some more ideas I had. I'd like for you to read it and let me know what you think. Thanks.

I do not have an answer, but I do have a follow-up question to ask. If you do not go with a curriculum package then how do you keep up with grades, and once they do master a subject how do you go about moving them up? Will the state just take your word for it, or do you have to get them tested somewhere so they can move on? I`m just curious as to how that part works. My son will be going into Kindergarten next year, and my daughter will be pre-k so I am seriously thinking of homeschooling. We live in Texas if that matters. Would appreciate any help! :) Thanks and God bless! :)

Many in education know how to present material, teach note taking, enforce discipline, and glean a percentage of adequate students from their original group leaving some with a bleak future. Tried and true teaching methods work but can certainly be improved upon. Wouldn't it be nice if we could salvage some of the poorer students. The Learning Booth is like an isolation tank. It eliminates outside stimuli and speeds up learning improving student's concentration and retention. As society enters the twenty first century, we need innovative teaching methods like The Learning Booth so all of our young people can compete in the world market.

Hi there! I have been using the ACE curriculum for three years and my son is starting his fourth year in the PACEs - he is in 5th grade.

We both really love it!

It has brought a nice structure to our schoolday which allows us to get lots more accomplished (I have 4 children altogether). I really didn't think I would like the ACE curriculum because I thought it would be some of the things that others commented already - but it has really taught my bouncy and energetic boy to sit quietly and get his work done. We have many scheduled breaks and only do ACE for four days a week - he loves his schedule and says so to others even when I'm not in the room! :)

I am currently in the middle of producing a series of articles on my blog about ACE that goes much more in-depth about the program.

Homeschooling Feedback: No the homeschoolers I have met (I was homeschooled and now homeschooll my child) all participate in many "social" acticites including playgroups, music lessons, homeschooling groups, karate, group field trips, cooking classes, dance class, art lessons, nature programs at the state parks, playgrounds, swimming lessons, the SCA, Volunteering, gymnastics, etc. They also know how to sociallize with afults and younger children better because they around people of ALL ages not jsut their own age group. The only thing I notice that would set them apart is they are smarter and find things like fashion, shopping, material items, and (when older) parying, less meaningful and so don't have super large groups of friends as they find these materialistic actions useless. If thats beings "odd" though then I'd rather my child be odd then to grow up thinking that looks and drinking to be popluar are whats important.
