Do any of you homeschool parents work outside the home as well?

Can you answer punkinbutt’smama’s question about Homeschooling?:
I am just wondering how feasible it is to be a homeschool mom (or dad) and work outside the home full time as well. Isn’t being a homeschool parent a full-time job?

Homeschooling Feedback: Well, I’m a home school student, but my mom is a librarian, (she’s my home school teacher) I was in high school until sophomore year, What she does is get me books to study from the library, help me with what I need, then let me study the subjects while she’s at work, then review what I did when she gets home. I’m more of an independent learner, and she knows that, so she just makes sure that I am doing the work that I’m supposed to do, and lets me work on it myself. That’s one of the reasons we began homeschooling- I like learning on my own, researching things myself, and studying by myself. It just worked better for us, and because of this I’m already prepared to take my GED a year early- this spring, because I’ve studied so much :]
Homeschooling Feedback: I have only worked part time, but have friends who have worked full time while homeschooling their children.
Off the top of my head I can think of 2 families.
One the mother is a public school teacher and the husband a police officer. They work different shifts, so someone is always home.
The other family the husband is a full time student during the day and works out of the home in the evenings. The wife is home during the day and works 4 evenings a week while going to school 2 evenings a week.
In reality homeschooling takes 20-25 hrs a week. That leaves plenty of time to work outside the home if the parent need or wants to.
Homeschooling Feedback: I homeschool my kids and I also work outside of my home. I work every night that way I can still teach my kids. I’m not saying that it is easy, but sometimes I love it because I can get away and see other people.
Homeschooling Feedback: Homeschooling should be a full-time job but some parents just leave their children home alone to flounder. You will see them on YA a lot, anxiously begging for canned answers to the simplest work from completely unreliable strangers. The fact that the children feel the need to cheat is not really their fault, since they have been set up for it by their parents, but it will affect their whole later lives.
Homeschooling Feedback: Yes… try The homeschool lounge. I think they have a forum there. And I bet yahoo has a group you could join too. It’s more common than you might imagine
Best of Luck!
